- “Food security is an international issue and it can only be solved by global operations,” shared Co-founder & CEO Alekh Sanghera of 500-backed agritech company FarMart.
- That’s why the team is expanding their operations to Africa, from where they plan to export food to India and other parts of the world.
- Using their technology, FarMart aims to be an integrated global value chain across multiple countries. In a nutshell, the company is an “Airbnb” of the food sector, connecting farming communities to food businesses globally.
- “Eventually, we will start shipping to India. Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Benun are 4 markets where we have our own people now,” Alekh said, adding that they are already exporting to Nepal and are currently looking at Myanmar and Vietnam as well.
- “We take the onus of doing a first-mile pickup, quality, and delivery. We are responsible for the fulfillment of the order and even before the buyer pays us, we pay 90% of the produce to the farmer to ensure that he/she does not suffer,” he revealed.
