- 500-backed superapp Grab partnered automaker BYD to introduce up to 50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across Southeast Asia!
- This initiative aims to accelerate the region’s transition to EVs while addressing key barriers such as high upfront costs and infrastructure limitations.
- By deploying a large fleet of BYD EVs, Grab seeks to make sustainable transportation more accessible for both driver-partners and passengers. In Singapore and Thailand, users will be able to opt for green vehicles at no additional charge.
- Driver-partners will have the option to rent BYD EVs or finance them through Grab’s car ownership scheme, with additional benefits such as extended warranties for high-voltage batteries.
- Joining the fleet is the Denza D9, a premium seven-seater electric MPV that is set to elevate Grab’s high-end ride-hailing services.
- Beyond expanding their EV fleet, Grab is integrating their technology to enhance the driver and passenger experience and ensure safety on the road.
- BYD vehicles will come equipped with Grab’s driver app integrated into the car’s head unit, allowing drivers to receive job notifications, navigate, and communicate seamlessly without switching between devices.
- Real-time telemetry data from BYD vehicles will feed directly into Grab’s platform. This will provide valuable insights into driving patterns, traffic conditions, and external factors such as weather. Such data can help Grab direct drivers to high-demand areas, improving efficiency during peak hours and leading to more accurate estimated arrival times (ETAs) for passengers.
