Soaring to a sustainable future
- “We believe that not only can drones change the way humanity operates by doing things faster, better and cheaper, but it can also facilitate our transition towards a more sustainable future,” shared Founder & Group CEO Kamarul A Muhamed of 500-backed drone services company Aerodyne.
- In their 2024 Sustainability Report, the company is on track to hit the targets they set in the previous year. Highlights from case studies:
- Argentavis, their logistics arm, reduced carbon emissions by 97% with drone delivery (hybrid) compared to deploying offshore helicopters
- Fulcrum, their surveillance arm, reduced carbon emissions by 97% c with drone-based surveillance compared to deploying helicopters for a gas pipeline project
- Dronos, their infrastructure monitoring arm, reduced carbon emissions by 36% compared to conventional asset inspection
- Agrimor, their agriculture arm, reduced pesticide usage by over 70%
- In their mission to nurture the next generation of drone pilots, 1,377 individuals were trained across 3 centers: Aerodyne Flight Institute in Malaysia, Grupo DR1 Academy in Brazil, and FEDS Drone Academy in the United Arab Emirates. These centers also offer accredited training programs to clients and partners.
- On the environmental front, Aerodyne has 0.88 tonnes of drone batteries scheduled for recycling — that’s 100% of their target!
- Building towards an inclusive workforce, 61% of their female employees based in Malaysia contributed towards data and technology field. Across Aerodyne Group, 20% of the team are women and they plan to increase it to beyond 30% representation by 2026.
