A fruitful venture

  • After reaching EBITDA-positive in March 2024, 500-backed fashion company Pomelo is growing to more countries across Southeast Asia and beyond.
  • By joining forces with exclusive distribution partners, the team recently expanded to Cambodia and the Philippines, where they will open a minimum of 7 and 14 stores respectively. 3 stores are already operating in Cambodia.
  • Headquartered in Thailand, they are also looking to expand to the Middle East and India. Co-founder & CEO David Jou shared that they are seeking distribution partners in these two countries as well as Vietnam.
  • “Cambodia is a fast-growing market for fashion and apparel. Before the opening of the existing stores, given its proximity to Thailand, we’ve already had a lot of customers [in Cambodia] regularly shopping from our website or Thai stores,” he added.
  • Pomelo currently has 38 physical stores in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Cambodia, and the team also serves shoppers in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
  • Despite the ubiquity of e-commerce shopping, David explained that consumers are moving away from online-only and lower price points due to quality and environmental reasons.
