  • Congratulations to Danutcha Catriona Singh, Managing Director of SOLS Foundation and Co-Founder & Director of 500-backed SOLS Energy for being the first Malaysian selected for the Obama Scholars program!
  •  As part of the 7th cohort, she will be joining 12 scholars for an immersive leadership experience at Columbia University for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Danutcha’s selection as an Obama Scholar reflects her commitment to social impact and her vision for SOLS Foundation, which aims to elevate Malaysia’s middle class through career preparedness training, particularly for low-income and Indigenous communities.
  • Under her leadership, the Skills Hub has provided tailored skills training to 106,000 individuals, and the Solar Academy has trained over 700 under-privileged youths, 50% of whom are Indigenous, for careers in Green Energy.
  • Solar Academy graduates have brought electrical access to 1,423 residential and 2,387 Indigenous homes over the last 2 years, with future plans for microgrids, which SOLS Foundation is actively working towards.
  • At the university, Danutcha plans to develop a strategy to streamline SOLS Foundation’s programs and teams, aiming to scale the organization’s impact and position Malaysia as a leader in Social Innovation.
