All geared up
- As the demand for electric vehicles rises, so have the standards for safety, mass production capacity, and the need for customization according to customer specifications. In the heart of it all? Batteries.
- Founder & CEO of 500-backed battery company XING Mobility Royce YC Hong believes they are among the select few who meet these requirements, and soon many electric vehicles on the road will bear the label ‘Powered by XING’.
- The team recently showcased their innovation at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, with Royce adding that it was a resounding success.
- Optimal battery thermal management has been a challenge for EVs, and incidents such as battery fires were common. Conventional cooling methods are costly with limited effectiveness.
- In comes XING Mobility, with their verified, scalable, and cost-efficient solution. Their proprietary immersion cooling technology has undergone rigorous testing, has been integrated into vehicles, and is poised for mass production.
- “Back then, XING Mobility scoured the globe for a suitable solution but came up empty-handed. Faced with exorbitant development costs associated with traditional cold plates, my team and I had to push the boundaries of innovation, leading us to the unconventional approach of immersing battery cells directly in cooling fluid,” Royce explained.
- That’s not all. In frigid weather conditions, this method can reverse heat flow, enabling batteries to function normally in extreme cold.
- “It’s not just about aligning products with the market; it’s about the convergence of technology and market demands,” he said.
