Crossing into a new era

  • Parcels dropped off by drones at the doorstep is not a new service, but so far, the journeys have been within the same country. 500-backed drone services company Aerodyne in Malaysia partnered with Singapore-based DroneDash to make this service international.
  • They are aiming for commercial operations between the two countries to begin Q3 2024. This could be the world’s first cross-border drone delivery!
  • This method will be 5x faster than sea freight, reducing carbon emissions by up to 100% and carbon footprint by 80%. The drones can carry up to 30kg of cargo and fly up to 150km/h within a four-hour flight span.
  • Designed for critical deliveries such as urgent documents, high-value electronics, medical supplies, and perishable foods, the drones can even reach remote areas inaccessible to traditional air and sea freight.
  • Deliveries are intended to be autonomous, and a human pilot will only take over in exceptional circumstances.
  • For the next phase, the two companies will move on to larger drones that can fly longer distances and carry more cargo.
