Ready to launch
- It’s almost go time for 500-backed rocket company Gilmour Space Technologies, fueled by a US$36M Series D ahead of their maiden orbital launch later this year.
- The funding will support the team’s efforts to manufacture, test and begin launching rockets and satellites from the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in North Queensland.
- “Our vision is for rockets made and launched in Queensland, carrying satellites and other payloads to space for our global customers,” Co-founder & CEO Adam Gilmour shared. “Our team is fortunate to be backed by high-caliber investors whose unwavering support has led to the development of Australia’s first orbital rocket, built by an Australian-owned company, and supported by a local space supply chain.”
- The fresh capital will also enable the team to leverage more immediate opportunities in Australia and abroad, as well as hire and upskill even more Queenslanders. Since 2021, the company has created more than 100 jobs across Queensland and plans to expand their team to over 300 members by mid-2027.
- The team is developing a three-stage rocket called Eris. The first test flight is expected in the coming months, pending launch approvals from the Australian Space Agency. Commercial launches are scheduled to begin in 2025.
