From hedge to veg

  • Vikas pivoted from being a hedge fund manager to founding 500-backed abillion, a content-sharing app for eco-conscious consumers, in 2017.
  • Why? The 2016 US election was the turning point for him when he realized how social media was negatively affecting society, information, and data privacy.
  • Determined to bring more positive change through social media, he met co-ounder Jonathan, at a 3-month coding boot camp, and they worked together for the next five years to build a platform, which started as just a vegan food recommendation app.
  • To grow their user base, they attended festivals, events, and engaged with animal rights groups to share the concept with potential users.
  • Today, abillion boasts a global community of users in 173 countries, moving beyond veganism to living an eco-conscious lifestyle, with new content every few seconds.
  • Users are given points for making sustainable choices and posting on the app, enabling growth without relying heavily on costly marketing.
  • abillion continues to drive change not just for consumers, they influence businesses to be more transparent and accountable for sustainability too.
