Let there be net!
- Can we have internet in even the most remote locations? With just a shoebox-sized device, it can be borderless – and botherless!
- This was recently proven by 500-backed superfast internet company Transcelestial. The team helped a telecommunications company in Malaysia bring connectivity to over 240 people on a remote island, where costly and resource-intensive undersea cables were not feasible, and radio waves would lose signal strength over open waters.
- The shoebox solution is Transcelestial’s CENTAURI, which uses proprietary laser technology to transmit data wirelessly up to 3km.
- With just less than half a day of installation compared to over 1,500 hours for undersea cables, underserved villagers gained access to 10Gbps speeds, and the installation saved the telco company US$3M.
