When the metaverse is not universal
- The metaverse is everywhere and anywhere, but books about this new digital frontier tend to be a little too…Western-centric. So, Co-founder & CEO of 500-backed virtual solutions startup VirtualTech Frontier (VTF) Jason Low decided to write the book he wanted to read.
- Jason recently published ‘Metaverse – Now and Future, a Universe in the Palm of Your Hands’, penned specifically for the Asian market. He shared, “I realised that all of the books available out there have very Western-driven content which might not be relevant for the market in Asia. Worst of all, they were fully black and white like dictionaries.”
- “I believe when explaining about the metaverse, colours and imagination should be key, hence the inclusion of a full coloured book about the metaverse,” he added.
- Written primarily for fellow Malaysian business owners seeking insight into the metaverse, the book covers informative topics such as business ideas, marketing tools, and case studies.
- Interesting fact: Many would be surprised to know that although Jason used to run an augmented reality and immersive technology company, he was not that immersed in the Web3 space before VTF!
- “Securing funding from 500 Global has always been a dream and personally a long shot from my perspective,” Jason commented.
- In fact, Khailee Ng, Managing Partner at 500 Global, even wrote the foreword to Jason’s book!
- In the wake of recent scandals in the crypto scene, would people be more hesitant to invest in the metaverse? “I think there is no easy way to ‘escape’ from the negative connotations that the space has brought, especially when many people also deeply associate metaverse with tokens and cryptocurrency involvement,” Jason said.
- That’s exactly what his book could address, as it promotes education and awareness. For entrepreneurs thinking about getting involved in the metaverse, it could be a great starting point.
- ‘Metaverse – Now and Future, a Universe in the Palm of Your Hands’ is now available at major bookstores across Malaysia such as Borders, Kinokuniya, MPH bookstores, and more.
