Everybody\u2019s looking into education technology and the big themes that are being affected by the COVID situation,\u201d said Cristobal Viedma, Lingokids CEO and founder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"1600\" data-height=\"1130\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7da7ac79b9.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Techcrunch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The closing of schools due to the pandemic has led to an onslaught of new users at Lingokids. The company witnessed 50% increase in engagement rates from users during 2020 and is on course to add 10 million families to the platform by the year\u2019s end.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cA lot of parents have been forced to stay at home with their kids and they\u2019ve been reshaping their thinking around what it means to use digital technologies in education,\u201d Cristobal added.<\/li>\n<li>Lingokids currently provides curated educational curriculums to children in more than 190 countries and has over 20 million subscribers.<\/li>\n<li>Given that millions of students worldwide have been forced to study from home due to school closures, those numbers are expected to increase.<\/li>\n<li>Congrats on the fresh funds, team Lingokids!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Japan presence<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500-backed cross-border financial settlement company <a href=\"https:\/\/emq.com\/emq-launches-high-value-crossborder-settlements-in-japan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EMQ<\/a> announced the launch of high value cross-border payment capabilities in Japan, allowing global businesses to transfer money to local banks with ease.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cJapan, the third-largest economy in the world, is an important market in our global growth strategy as we continue to see encouraging signs of recovery across the region amidst the new normal. More markets will be introduced by the end of this year.<\/li>\n<li>The fintech company raised a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/\/durians-daily-67-emq-raises-us-20-million-series-b-funding-zenysis-works-with-the-global-fund-2cdfd82d479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series B round<\/a> of US$20 million in July.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Trials underway<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/hong-kong\/health-environment\/article\/3104586\/cathay-pacific-crew-join-trials-rapid-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South China Morning Post<\/a> reported that a Cathay Pacific flight is scheduled to take flight today from Hong Kong to Singapore.<\/li>\n<li>Crew members have undergone a new and rapid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covid-19<\/a> test provided by 500-backed Prenetics, which is being evaluated in closely monitored situations as the launch of travel bubbles draw closer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"780\" data-height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7da7b8f045.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: The Straits\u00a0Times<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cRapid and accurate testing at a facility at the airport will be critical for global travel to resume.
