Stop trying to, well, control costs. \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3zOvoJh\">No billion-dollar company was made by cutting costs<\/a>,\u201d said Amit Saberwal, founder &amp; CEO of 500-backed hospitality company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddoorz.com\/\">RedDoorz<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amit advises founders to focus on growing revenue instead. \u201cThe best defense is a good offense,\u201d he shared, adding that when the gap between revenue and costs widens, the latter automatically diminishes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After successfully breaking even in 2022 in both of its key markets \u2013 Indonesia and the Philippines \u2013 what insights can Amit share with other founders?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In general, be mindful of what cost optimization measures you take, especially against a temporary winter funding. \u201cYou have to give your company a specific goal, and basically a great goal to give is revenue,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amit shares 4 actionable tips for founders to consider.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t throw people at processes.<\/strong> He revealed that the right automation systems can reduce non-revenue producing costs by 50% to 70%. They are especially helpful in back-end processes such as customer service, finance, and partner support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Outsourcing may not decrease costs.<\/strong> It may be tempting to outsource HR and accounting roles to reduce manpower costs, but it can be costly. Founders can also consider automation in this case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disciplined experimentation helps. <\/strong>\u201cIf you don\u2019t experiment, next year and the year after next gets impacted,\u201d Amit said.
