This year, the theme is a globally pertinent one on \u2018Development and its Complexities: Steering Our Way Through a Perfect Storm\u2019.<\/li><li>With greater urgency for innovation to solve today\u2019s challenges, Christine Tsai, CEO &amp; Founding Partner, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.500.co\/\">500 Global<\/a>, was invited to discuss the <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3TxIQcy\">role of key players in the innovation ecosystem, and the areas where technology can unlock the biggest impact<\/a>.<\/li><li>\u201cVenture capital is one of the most impactful ways to do that,\u201d shared Christine. \u201c500 Global backs founders building companies for financial inclusion, food security, digitalisation, healthcare, education, and sustainable cities.\u201d These are investment areas that overlap with Malaysia\u2019s Dana Impak\u2019s key themes for strengthening the nation\u2019s resilience.<\/li><li>How important are corporate partners for innovation today? Christine shared that they play a multi-faceted role as acquirers, investors, partners, and even distribution platforms for founders. However, there is often a disconnect between how corporates and early-stage companies operate; corporates need to understand that investing in startups and venture capital is long-term.<\/li><li>Asset allocators are also a crucial player in the innovation ecosystem, and Christine believes \u201cdespite the perception of venture being risky, there\u2019s also significant reward, and we are just scratching the surface of all the capital that\u2019s allocated to private markets.\u201d<\/li><li>Why\u2019s that?
