As people are urged to stay home, there has been a surge of demand in food delivery services across Southeast Asia. Think about it: You likely had Grab to deliver your meals for the past week.<\/li>\n<li>500-backed Grab\u2019s food delivery arm, GrabFood has seen a sharp increase in food orders in SEA countries. In Malaysia, demand has grown by more than 30% compared to the week before the Movement Control Order (MCO). The company has seen a 20% increase in GrabFood orders during the pandemic in neighboring Singapore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"780\" data-height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9e7c0fcb.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: The Straits\u00a0Times<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>According to a survey, GrabFood is the most popular food delivery app in Vietnam with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theedgemarkets.com\/article\/grab-food-takes-biggest-bite-food-delivery-vietnam-%E2%80%94-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">79% market share<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>These statistics signal a change in eating habits that might remain even after the pandemic is over. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nielsen.com\/eu\/en\/insights\/article\/2020\/asian-consumers-are-rethinking-how-they-eat-post-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A study conducted by Nielsen<\/a> in 11 Asian markets found that people are prioritizing eating at home and the on-to-go convenience that food deliveries provide. Nielsen predicts these behaviors to stay and become \u201cnew norms\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s game time<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Nintendo Switch may be basking in its newfound glory with demand skyrocketing worldwide, but in Indonesia and Vietnam, the crown belongs to the 7-coming-to-8-year-old PlayStation 4.<\/li>\n<li>This is citing a study by 500-backed iPrice which had gauged what gaming consoles were Southeast Asian gamers searching for during this period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"960\" data-height=\"1428\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9e828a8a.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: iPrice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>iPrice based the analysis on 1.5 million searches made on online shopping websites spanning across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and Hong Kong.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"960\" data-height=\"1428\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9e978bbd.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: iPrice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>All things considered, the Nintendo Switch, largely popularized by the new <em>Animal Crossing<\/em> game, is still the most beloved gaming console in the region with search interest shot up by 245%. But the pandemic has disrupted supply chains causing communications to fray between suppliers and farmers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/farmart--farming-equipments_staysafe-covid19-socialdistancing-activity-6663724098268606464-80de\">https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/farmart&#8211;farming-equipments_staysafe-covid19-socialdistancing-activity-6663724098268606464-80de<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For 500-backed agri-tech startup FarMart, setting up a mobile app that can effectively connect merchants to farmers can help to mitigate this issue.<\/li>\n<li>Through prompt SMS alerts, FarMart lets merchants inform their farmers about store serving timings, inventory matters, and weather advisories.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThis feature has been a great hit amongst our merchant base and is helping us acquire other merchants organically,\u201d Alekh Sanghera, co-founder, and CEO of FarMart tells <a href=\"https:\/\/inc42.com\/features\/agritech-startups-are-solving-the-biggest-crisis-for-indias-farmers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inc42<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Ultimately, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.farmart.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FarMart<\/a> hopes to improve this cycle by enabling merchants to better track and understand the needs of the farmers they serve, and, in turn, create positive outcomes for those farmers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Stay tuned to the next Daily Markup!
