In 2016, total packaging waste in the EU amounted to nearly 87 million tonnes (much of which was plastic), according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voguebusiness.com\/technology\/eco-friendly-reusable-packaging-sustainability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vogue<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>But fashion houses are becoming more conscious about their plastic usage. For 500-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pomelofashion.com\/my\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pomelo<\/a>, the leading omnichannel fashion platform in Southeast Asia, it is collaborating with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vgi.co.th\/news\/detail\/5821\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VGI PLC<\/a>, an advertising solutions company, to upcycle vinyl materials used in billboards and repurpose them for packaging.<\/li>\n<li>The jointly-produced packaging can be reused up to 1,000 times and has helped to decrease VGI\u2019s vinyl usage by 3,500 square meters and Pomelo\u2019s single-use packaging by 200,000 pieces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"950\" data-height=\"562\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9c77bef2.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: VGI<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>All items purchased at Pomelo\u2019s brick-and-mortar stores and online store will come in the packaging with Pomelo\u2019s unmistakable typeface emblazoned on it.<\/li>\n<li>In related news, Pomelo had undergone a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketing-interactive.com\/pomelo-refreshes-branding-as-it-transitions-from-brand-to-fashion-platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rebranding exercise<\/a> with updates to its online platform and mobile apps. The app now has an intuitive search function for better product and brand visibility, and specific columns for in-app exclusive live streaming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hauling in the numbers<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"768\" data-height=\"589\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9c7d3986.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Credit: Haulio<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Businesses globally are facing unprecedented challenges amid the pandemic, but logistics firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.haulio.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Haulio<\/a> reported a strong closing of Q3 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Haulio is Singapore\u2019s largest network of haulage service providers, using technology to enable businesses to get their containers moved.<\/li>\n<li>Company revenues saw a 10.6% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth, and 14.6% in QoQ profits.<\/li>\n<li>Thanks to one of their key partners, TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) transactions rose exponentially to 92.8%.<\/li>\n<li>Overall, TEU growth across all products also surged to 26.7%, with the major driver being their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.haulio.io\/hcs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HSC (Haulio Connectivity System)<\/a> app, which allows hauliers and controllers to easily communicate and manage their fleet and drivers<\/li>\n<li>Transactions through Haulio grew 196% year-on-year, and 31% QoQ.<\/li>\n<li>Their registered fleet also grew more than 50% since registering as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imda.gov.sg\/programme-listing\/smes-go-digital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SME Go Digital<\/a> vendor, an initiative by the Singapore government to help SMEs build stronger digital capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Haulio is expecting to deploy their trailer tracker devices in the upcoming Q4, with pilot testing slated to begin in Q1 of 2021.<\/li>\n<li>Alvin Ea, CEO and co-founder added, \u201cA landmark milestone of crossing our 500,000th transaction as well as doubling of our growth in our first overseas market in Thailand are results that I\u2019m really pleased about, and as the year comes to an end, we\u2019re on track for a stronger growth trajectory ahead.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Get the full report on Haulio\u2019s Q3 performance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6730720500961693696\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Missed out the last Daily Markup?
