Businesses that signed up received 90% funding support from ESG.<\/li>\n<li>The package comprised a six-month <a href=\"https:\/\/support.carousell.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360020081713--Singapore-What-is-CarouBiz-Carousell-For-Business-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carousell for Business (CarouBiz)<\/a> subscription and access to articles, webinars, as well as a live support chat to help them understand and maximise Carousell\u2019s tools.<\/li>\n<li>At the same time, the startup saw an outpouring of charity and support for the needy from various groups across the region, and launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketing-interactive.com\/carousell-donates-ad-inventory-to-ngos-in-sea-and-hong-kong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Free Ads for Charity\u2019<\/a>, a support program worth US$1.5 million designed to help these groups raise funds by providing visibility.<\/li>\n<li>Internally, the startup has seen a shift in consumer interest, with the weekly demand for home services\u200a\u2014\u200adelivery, renovations, and repairs, to name a few\u200a\u2014\u200aincreasing by 1.5x since 2019.<\/li>\n<li>In response, Carousell chose to focus on this category for their Singapore, Hong Kong, and Philippines markets. Singaporean users can now browse through a dedicated page for home services, which is accessible via a separate tab on the app. The page aggregates all such services in one place, where users can read articles on how to help them make their selection. The startup is looking to roll this feature out in Hong Kong.<\/li>\n<li>All these initiatives spoke to Carousell\u2019s goal to become \u201cthe e-commerce leader in this region, solve the barriers to secondhand, and accelerate this trend in Southeast Asia.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Read the full interview <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kr-asia.com\/our-goal-is-to-become-the-e-commerce-leader-in-this-region-qa-with-carousells-chee-soon-ng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A boost for Australian space<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500-backed Australian rocket company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gspacetech.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gilmour Space<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gspacetech.com\/post\/gilmour-space-and-northrop-grumman-sign-mou-to-grow-sovereign-capabilities-in-australia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed<\/a> a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Northrop Grumman Corporation, a global aerospace and defense technology company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"360\" data-height=\"247\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9ae4ffc9.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Gilmour\u00a0Space<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>As part of the agreement, Northrop Grumman will support Australia in its needs of defence and achieve the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.industry.gov.au\/data-and-publications\/australian-civil-space-strategy-2019-2028\/strategic-vision-for-the-australian-space-sector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Space Agency\u2019s vision<\/a>. This includes \u201cdiversifying the economy, developing national capability in areas of competitive advantage in the space sector, ensuring the safety and security of its sovereign space infrastructure and activities, as well as inspiring and improving the lives of all Australians\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOur approach is consistent with the Australian government\u2019s recently announced Modern Manufacturing Strategy, to make space hardware in Australia while securing sovereign capabilities in priority areas that include defence and space,\u201d said Chris Deeble, chief executive of Northrop Grumman Australia.<\/li>\n<li>As an \u201cinitial task\u201d under the MoU, Northrop Grumman will join Gilmour Space as an industry partner on a previously announced <a href=\"https:\/\/business.gov.au\/Grants-and-Programs\/Cooperative-Research-Centres-Projects-CRCP-Grants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cooperative Research Centre Project (CRC-P)<\/a>, a grant for short-term, industry-led research collaborations.<\/li>\n<li>Gilmour Space CEO Adam Gilmour said, \u201cThe next five years will be a critical time for Australia to develop a world-class sovereign space industry. With the right support, we will see innovative, well capitalised, and highly capable Australian space companies like Gilmour Space emerge as future Australian space primes. We look forward to working with Northrop Grumman on delivering for our nation as we work to launch our first commercial payloads to orbit in 2022.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Equalizing employment opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500-backed recruitment automation startup <a href=\"https:\/\/talkpush.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Talkpush<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prweb.com\/releases\/talkpush_partners_with_vervoe_to_inform_candidates_on_selection_decisions_in_real_time\/prweb17570884.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partnered<\/a> with Vervoe to integrate complementary services between the two platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"696\" data-height=\"344\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7d9aeace30.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: HRTech<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Vervoe is an AI-driven skills assessment platform that offers potential candidates \u201ccustomizable assessments for employers to test both technical and soft skills\u201d enabling data-driven decision making.<\/li>\n<li>With the platform integration, both recruiters and job seekers will be able to experience an \u201ceffective, fair and enjoyable\u201d hiring process.<\/li>\n<li>According to Talkpush, their automated processes result in 70% reduction in candidates\u2019 time to fill out application forms, 3x more hires per recruiter, and an 80% reduction in cost per hire.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates can apply for a job via their preferred channel, from social media apps to the company\u2019s career page. After the pre-screening process, they will automatically receive a link to complete an assessment.
