To date, 500 has funded more than 2,500 startups across 77 countries.<\/li>\n<li>The number of unicorns in 500\u2019s portfolio has increased to 23, while it added 15 centaurs\u200a\u2014\u200acompanies who have a valuation of more than US$100 million\u200a\u2014\u200abringing the total to 108.<\/li>\n<li>The company continued to grow the community through its investor slack space, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.500.vc\/?__hstc=3023727.7b92e8c1c107b4b717819f04b37378c2.1602224484542.1607647130269.1608541967394.4&amp;__hssc=3023727.1.1608541967394&amp;__hsfp=3976492959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">500vc<\/a>, where thousands of tech investors are gathered for networking, sharing deal flows, and insights on best practices in this new era of sourcing deals virtually.<\/li>\n<li>In 2020, 500 partnered with corporations and governments to run 12 additional startup programs including <a href=\"http:\/\/500kobe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">500Kobe<\/a> Batch 5, the first 500 accelerator focused on COVID-19 emerging technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Across its portfolio companies, 500 has funded a total of 592 women-founded startups, which have a combined valuation of US$17.5 billion and raised US$15.9 billion in total.<\/li>\n<li>On 500\u2019s plans for next year, Christine shared, \u201cWe will continue to invest in talented founders around the world, offer our flagship accelerator program virtually and iterate on all of our programs for investors and founders as countries embark on their own reopening strategies.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Read the full piece <a href=\"https:\/\/500.co\/blog\/2020-in-review-resiliencestrengthempathy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Supercharging the supply chain<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/kr-asia.com\/retailo-raises-usd-2-3-million-pre-seed-for-its-b2b-ecommerce-marketplace-in-saudi-pakistan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pre-seed funding round<\/a>, Pakistani online B2B marketplace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retailo.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Retailo<\/a> joins the 500 family, securing a total of US$2.3 million from multiple VCs.<\/li>\n<li>Founded just a few months prior, it is the \u201csecond-largest pre-seed round raised by a startup in the Middle East, North Africa &amp; Pakistan (MENAP), and the largest for a startup that\u2019s headquartered in Saudi\u201d, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menabytes.com\/retailo-pre-seed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to MENABytes\u2019 data<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The startup\u2019s mission? Connecting retailers, manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers in a one-stop platform to bring competitive pricing to SMEs.<\/li>\n<li>Retailo\u2019s mobile app is catered to 10 million small and medium enterprise (SME) retailers in the MENAP region, an industry <a href=\"https:\/\/e27.co\/500-durians-joins-retailos-us2-3m-pre-seed-round-to-help-grow-its-b2b-marketplace-biz-in-pakistan-20201014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">representing<\/a> ~US$500 billion of annual spending.<\/li>\n<li>Retailo <a href=\"https:\/\/e27.co\/500-durians-joins-retailos-us2-3m-pre-seed-round-to-help-grow-its-b2b-marketplace-biz-in-pakistan-20201014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seeks<\/a> to offer users of the app access to a curated list of suppliers carrying a variety of products, enabling on-demand purchases items for their stores at wholesale prices.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kr-asia.com\/retailo-raises-usd-2-3-million-pre-seed-for-its-b2b-ecommerce-marketplace-in-saudi-pakistan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KrAsia <\/a>reported that the startup has launched in Pakistan\u2019s largest city, Karachi and recently launched in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"623\" data-height=\"384\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7db5a8a6e9.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: InfoZonePK<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>In a joint statement, the startup\u2019s three founders, Talha Ansari, Muhammad Nowkhaiz, and Wahaj Ahmed, said, \u201cWe strongly believe in creating impact in the lives of people by giving them opportunities to improve their earning potential. The MENAP region has a significant opportunity to increase its economic prosperity by unlocking the productivity delta that exists between the region and global benchmarks.
