Servers generate heat from operational use, and the centers use water to cool them. <a href=\"https:\/\/lifelinedatacenters.com\/data-center\/data-centers-water-consumption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In the US<\/a> alone, data centers used 626 billion liters of water in 2014, and this number was projected to grow to 660 billion liters in 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Traditionally, the water treatment process employs chemicals such as coagulants which are expensive, harmful to the environment, and labor-intensive.<\/li>\n<li>The startup replaces the need for such chemicals with electricity.<\/li>\n<li>According to Dr. Mohammad Sherafatmand, CEO of Hydroleap, their fully automated solution helps companies cut costs of up to 50% by eliminating chemical usage and saving on human resources.<\/li>\n<li>It also takes up to 50% less space than traditional systems and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/342905#:~:text=Hydroleap%20provides%20wastewater%20treatment%20solutions,the%20process%20more%20environment%2Dfriendly.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">environmentally friendly<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Watch the full video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/hydroleap_hydroleap-revolutionizing-water-treatment-ugcPost-6750245699855757312-GcIN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>When one door closes\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The travel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2020\/09\/pandemic-covid19-tourism-sector-tourism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN report<\/a> estimating 120 million tourism jobs are at risk, with the economic damage likely to exceed US$1 trillion in 2020 alone.<\/li>\n<li>Yet, there are travel companies that are still thriving despite the gloomy outlook, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phocuswire.com\/4-travel-ceos-thriving-through-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a series of interviews<\/a>. One of them is 500-backed hospitality startup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddoorz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RedDoorz<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phocuswire.com\/4-travel-ceos-thriving-through-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a>, founder and CEO Amit Saberwal said the startup made a decision early into the pandemic to reduce its staff by 40%. \u201cBut we didn\u2019t want to panic,\u201d he added. \u201cWe didn\u2019t cut down on core business, core leadership, because past experience shows travel is going to come back with a vengeance\u2026It\u2019s easy to cut, but it\u2019s difficult to build again. We wanted to keep the soul of the company intact.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"979\" data-height=\"632\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7db8f095e0.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: SCMP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The startup also shifted its focus from growth to optimization. Amit shared the company renegotiated contracts with property owners and began to focus on boosting revenue per transaction.<\/li>\n<li>The result? \u201cDramatic,\u201d according to Amit. \u201cThe path to profitability is very clear, very close. We are a much healthier company right now.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>By July, the startup was able to reverse salary reductions that had been implemented early in the pandemic.<\/li>\n<li>Setting its sights on becoming the \u201clargest new-age hospitality company in South-east Asia\u201d, RedDoorz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phocuswire.com\/RedDoorz-expands-with-launch-of-Sans-brand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> SANS, a new economy lifestyle hotel brand featuring trendy furnishings and amenities at low prices. The brand rolled out in Indonesia in October 2020.<\/li>\n<li>On 2020, Amit believes it is about survival and the opportunity growth will come post-pandemic. \u201cWe lost a lot of our competition, and I think the future end goal doesn\u2019t change for us.
