This startup knows; Online shopping no longer just for the young"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Malaysian unicorn in the making<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Founder and CEO of 500-backed drone solutions provider <a href=\"https:\/\/aerodyne.group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aerodyne Group<\/a>, Kamarul Muhamed, was <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/GdyUX-p88YI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interviewed<\/a> on Astro AWANI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"1440\" data-height=\"801\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7db3eb0245.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Astro AWANI \/\u00a0YouTube<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Explaining that their services encompass the DT3\u200a\u2014\u200adrone tech, data tech, and digital transformation\u200a\u2014\u200ahe shared that the startup\u2019s ultimate goal is to deploy a drone anywhere in the world within 24 hours. Aerodyne is currently present in 35 countries.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWe deliver a solution that is faster, better, cheaper, and very often, safer as well,\u201d he added. \u201cWe replace [the client\u2019s] traditional methods of inspection using helicopters or using people on the ground\u2026and we save typically around 20% of their cost, and we even accelerate the process by four times.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>An industry they\u2019re looking to grow in is agriculture. Kamarul said that Malaysia imports a lot of food (in 2018, the country <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theedgemarkets.com\/article\/special-report-state-nation-whats-wrong-being-net-food-importer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">imported<\/a> ~US$13.4 billion worth of food), and the UN <a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2020\/09\/1072712\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forecasted<\/a> a global famine in 2021. Aerodyne wants to help increase local agriculture yield and output and reduce the country\u2019s reliance on foreign labor. The startup is already working on thousands of hectares of land.<\/li>\n<li>What are the startup\u2019s plans for the next few years? The app\u2019s largest demographic, 25 to 34-year-olds, also grew significantly at 4.5x over the previous year.<\/li>\n<li>The most popular category is health and beauty, which saw a 54% growth over 2019. Electronics, toys and games, home and furniture, women\u2019s fashion, and luxury items saw an average of 30% growth across the board.<\/li>\n<li>William Ip, managing director of Carousell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketing-interactive.com\/carousell-online-shopping-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advised<\/a> industries that have been providing offline services to take the opportunity to go digital. \u201cWe have seen more home services merchants on our platform this year to combat lower footfall, engage with a new and larger customer base at the virtual frontier and open up new revenue streams,\u201d he shared.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSmall businesses in resilient categories should go digital if they haven\u2019t, as it can buffer potential loss from the physical outlets with diversified revenue streams from an always-open platform,\u201d he added.<\/li>\n<li>He concluded that merchants must be tactical in managing their online business to stand out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Missed out the last Daily Markup?
