We believe everyone, regardless of where they\u2019re living, should have access to internet,\u201d said Mohammad Danesh, co-founder of the company.<\/li>\n<li>To make this vision a reality, the team is using Centauri\u200a\u2014\u200aa device that uses laser communication to create a wireless distribution network between buildings, traditional cell towers, street-level poles, and other physical infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>The Centauri is lightweight and can be easily installed at building rooftops. Using lasers, it connects between an internet source to another location with ease.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOur ultimate goal is to build a global network of satellites using lasers to connect every single place on the planet to each other.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Transcelestial, which had raised a <a href=\"https:\/\/e27.co\/singapores-transcelestial-raises-us9-6m-series-a-to-deliver-a-step-change-in-internet-connectivity-globally-20200703\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series A round<\/a> in July, delved deeper into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/transcelestial_lasercomms-5g-spacetech-activity-6716183501089103872-rjWn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the reasons<\/a> why they\u2019re making the internet accessible for everyone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"1080\" data-height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7daa709b03.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Transcelestial<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>One of the reasons include reaching the 3.6 billion people in least developed countries who are still unconnected. This staggering number comes from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/en\/mediacentre\/Pages\/2019-PR19.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITU report<\/a> released last year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To fight Covid-19<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500-backed Prenetics is at the forefront of Covid-19 testing. It has assisted the Premier League to resume matches and is also working with hotel groups, airlines, and local governments for the same.<\/li>\n<li>To further scale this global effort, the Hong Kong-based digital company has received a <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/apis-partners-leads-us-15-000000792.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US$15 million investment<\/a> led by Apis Partners and existing investor Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund.<\/li>\n<li>The new funding will specifically be used to continue to invest in R&amp;D with a specific focus on further advancing COVID-19 testing technologies on a global basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"1350\" data-height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7daa7779bf.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Prestige Hong\u00a0Kong<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cWe are proud to be playing such a major role in the fight against Covid-19. Rapid, accurate, and frequent testing could be one of our most important interventions as fall approaches to prevent large outbreaks and for the global economy,\u201d said Danny Yeung, co-founder and Group CEO of Prenetics.<\/li>\n<li>In Q4 this year, Prenetics is planning to launch a rapid Covid-19 test kit that promises results in 15\u201330 minutes. Affordable and capable of frequent testing, Prenetics is in talks with governments globally to introduce this product.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fintech acceleration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The AMTD Singapore Solidarity Fund is part of a wider Southeast Asian fund aiming to support fintech startups in the region amidst the coronavirus crisis.<\/li>\n<li>The Singapore fund has since made its first round of investments into five startups, including 500-backed insurtech company PolicyPal.<\/li>\n<li>A total of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstimes.com.sg\/garage\/amtd-fund-invests-s115m-in-five-singapore-based-fintech-startups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S$11.5 million<\/a> has been deployed into these companies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"681\" data-height=\"510\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7daa7ec476.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: AMTD \/ PolicyPal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Apart from financial support, AMTD will also offer these fintech startups access to its digital platform and tap into the SpiderNet ecosystem, allowing them to maximise their user experience and digital offerings to Asian consumers and SMEs.<\/li>\n<li>In June, AMTD Digital, which is the digital arm of AMTD Group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstimes.com.sg\/companies-markets\/amtd-digital-acquires-insurtech-startup-policypal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired<\/a> PolicyPal for an undisclosed sum and served as the \u201ckey operating vehicle\u201d to develop and expand in Southeast Asia\u2019s insurtech sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Missed out the last Daily Markup?
