This year, the summit focuses on how to create diverse startup ecosystems.<\/li>\n<li>Events in the summit include a fireside chat with CEO and founding partner of 500 Startups Christine Tsai, a panel discussion on fundraising amid the pandemic, and a networking session.<\/li>\n<li>Get your tickets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.runtheworld.today\/app\/c\/500unityandinclusion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Flocking of feathers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recently, 500-backed microblogging app <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kooapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Koo<\/a> has seen a <a href=\"https:\/\/yourstory.com\/2021\/02\/the-turning-point-how-and-why-koo-is-making-a-buzz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surge<\/a> in user base as Indian ministers and government departments endorse the platform. Downloads have surged 10x in the last few days, and the app has crossed the three-million user mark.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"1200\" data-height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7dbbc6f20b.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Pragativadi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>How did Koo come about? Founders Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka have been working towards enabling non-English users in India since 2017 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vokal.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vokal<\/a>. They observed that local language internet users do not have an exclusive platform to express themselves on the internet.<\/li>\n<li>Users can express their thoughts in Indian languages like Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, and Marathi. The app offers a \u201cTwitter-like experience\u201d, allowing users to post in text, audio, video, or a combination of the modes.<\/li>\n<li>The app will be made available in 25+ other Indian languages by next year and will soon launch in English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Diagnosing delivery delays<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>While the pandemic fueled a surge in the e-commerce sector, this posed a challenge for logistics, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/iprice.my\/trends\/insights\/how-malaysias-delivery-industry-counters-covid-19-pressure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by 500-backed startups <a href=\"https:\/\/iprice.my\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iPrice<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parcelmonitor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parcel Monitor<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-width=\"700\" data-height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/dailymarkup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_60f7dbbcd222d.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: iPrice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Shorter operating hours, bulkier parcels, limited flights and shipments, and increased logistics cost led to Southeast Asian countries seeing an increase in delivery time. Malaysia experienced a 119% increase at its peak.<\/li>\n<li>Parcel Monitor noted hikes in customer complaints, missing parcels, and customer service calls during this period. The logistics startup then discovered a potential solution\u200a\u2014\u200aparcel locker networks.<\/li>\n<li>These lockers help to ensure fast and flexible delivery services while minimizing direct contact between delivery personnel and customers. \u201cThis will be a delivery trend that will continue to grow in ASEAN as e-commerce logistics in the region continues to mature,\u201d concluded Dr. Arne Jeroschewski, founder and CEO of Parcel Monitor &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parcelperform.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parcel Perform<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Missed out the last Daily Markup?
